TENTEN was conceived on 10.10.2010 and will of course be TEN years old in October 2020.

In our first 5 years we operated as a Melbourne-based architectural practice with a conventional portfolio of residential, commercial and non-profit sector work. Over the last 5 years, we moved on to be an agile remote-working group delivering bamboo projects mainly in the Asia Pacific region.

Founder Ewe Jin Low has over 30 years of experience in architecture and master planning, having practiced in England, SE Asia and Australia.

Ewe Jin has been based in Bali since 2015 initially as Lead Architect at Ibuku and subsequently running his own TENTEN Design bamboo projects from 2018.

He has been actively promoting bamboo via talks and workshops in Bamboo U Bali since 2016 and recently further advocating bamboo and architectural design teaching within organisations and universities in Asia.

“TENTEN was initiated on 10/10/2010 based on the recurring images of 10:10 that kept coming to me online and on paper, through clocks, watches, devices and even on television. Watchmakers use the 10:10 setting on their displays as the ‘10 past 10’ clock hands present the most visually pleasant and elegant position. This is also how most people open up their arms for worship, praise and prayer.

It is gratifying to realise much later on that the ‘1’s and the ‘0’s in 10:10 also allude to bamboo anatomy ie. its culm pole and the cross section respectively.
